  1. Lake Tahoe

Lake Tahoe is located in California and Nevada. It is the largest lake in North America and the second deepest lake in the world. The lake is over 100 miles long and 50 miles wide and covers about 1,200 square miles. There are two dams on the lake and they regulate water levels. One dam is called Donner and the other is called Hetch Hetchy. Both of these dams were built to provide electricity for the city of San Francisco. The lake is surrounded by mountains and forests and is home to many species of wildlife. Fish in the lake include trout, salmon, bass, catfish, carp, and others.

  1. Yellowstone National Park

Yellowstone National Park is located in Wyoming and Montana. It is the oldest national park in the United States and was established in 1872. The park is known for its geothermal features, hot springs, and natural thermal pools. There are many different types of wildlife in the park including elk, bison, moose, deer, mountain goats, coyotes, eagles, bears, wolves, and otters. The park is also home to some of the biggest and rarest mammals in the world including grizzly bears, black bears, bighorn sheep, and gray wolf packs. In addition to animals, the park is also home to many species of birds, reptiles, amphibians, and insects.

  1. Great Smoky Mountains National Park

The Great Smoky Mountains National park is located in Tennessee and North Carolina. The park is known as “the Smoke” for its beautiful mountainous terrain and dense forest cover. The park is home to many unique species of flora and fauna. Some of the animals in the park include white-tailed deer, wild turkeys, raccoons, river otter, bobcats, red foxes, gray squirrels, bats, beavers, muskrats, turtles, snakes, frogs, salamanders, and butterflies. Other species of flora include rhododendrons, blueberries, azaleas, dogwoods, sweetgums, tulip trees, magnolias, hemlock, spruce, fir, cedars, pines, cypress, oaks, maples, and many more.

Grand Canyon National Park is located in Arizona. The park is known to have some of the most incredible views in the country. The canyon is 277 miles long and ranges from 1 mile to 14 miles deep. The park is home of many unique species of flora, fauna, and wildlife. Some of the animals and plants include mule deer, jackrabbits, kangaroo rats, ravens, owls, hawks, hummingbirds, lizards, snakes, spiders, scorpions, tarantulas, centipedes, grasshoppers, crickets, beetles, flies, bees, ants, butterflies, and more.

Yosemite National Park is located in California. The park is known worldwide for its amazing granite cliffs, waterfalls, and giant sequoia trees. The park is home for many unique species of flora. Death Valley National Park is located in Nevada. The park is famous for its extreme temperatures and dryness. The valley is 282 feet below sea level and is the lowest point in North America.
